homeworkHomework is assigned nightly with the exception of Fridays.
Students should: -Read a Just Right book for 30-45 minutes within their lexile range grading/assessments Typically, we have an assessment every Friday. We use the 10 point scale required by CMS for grading. One retest will be given on any formal assessment with a score below 79. Mastery is considered to be a grade of 79 or higher.
CMS Grading Scale: 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 69 F Reading notebooks will be collected every other week and checked for completion and quality using the following rubric: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lXeuGJ_lpeXP-XwYHIkc2yWRMKEaCXEVjlURgFmLzos/edit Notebook Expectations: -Students are expected to come to class with their reading notebook -All notes are expected to be glued in (even if they are absent) -Students are expected to complete all stop & jots (even if they are absent, or work with me in a small group) -Notebooks may go home at any time (however, they must bring them to class the next day), but I do not require students to bring them home -Notebooks will be collected and graded every other week on the assigned day previously specified (Monday= Krebs’ Class, Tuesday=Surrett’s Class, Wednesday=Pitman’s Class, Thursday=Spaulding’s Class) -A link to the rubric I use to grade students’ notebooks can be found on the 4th Grade Weebly on my page for Reading -Notebooks are an informal grade and no “retakes” will be allowed **Please note: I am grading primarily for completion and the quality of their stop & jots/thinking while reading **I will begin giving students’ notebooks back with their grade/rubric and asking students to do a reflection and set a goal for the next time I collect notebooks this week.
