Assignments for Interactive Notebooks are Due at End of Every unit
In preparation for our visit to Raleigh on May 17th, 2016, we will continue with Social Studies - talking and learning about the American revolution and how our country was founded. We will also focus in on N.Carolina and its contribution to how america was formed.
Social Studies - The American Revolution
(I have decided not to include page numbers as many of the children's notebooks have slightly different pagination. Instead I will simply put R for Right and L for Left and they can keep track of their own numbers in the table of contents)
R - American Revolution page 1 - The french/Indian war Notes
L - Protest letter - pretend you are a colonist and write a letter to King George III in England. You are protesting against all of the taxes put on you and your family. Make sure your letter contains facts, your opinions, and that you are respectful.
R - American Revolution Page 2 - The Revolution Begins and the Declaration of Independence
L - Draw a picture of what you remember from the movie clips we saw about the Declaration or about John Adams going to See King George III after the United States became a nation
r - American Revolution Page 3 - The Battles in NC, the constitution and the bill of rights
l - (done in class) our own constitutions..."we the Kids...." (just put this title in brackets on this left side in your notebook) This is a bigger assignment and will be hung in the hallway. :)
North Carolina Early Statehood
R- Notes - A New State Capital/State Improvements from pages 88 and 89 in text
L- Homework - timeline from page 88 and 89- turn book sideways, Draw lines for timeline and insert dates (this will be announced in class on Monday, APril 25th)
R - Notes from pages 90 and 91
L- Trail of Tears Map - children to add routes and color the old Fashioned map that was created in 1827 by a 12 yr old
R - Speech written up about N.C. State improvements
L - Drawings based on speech (at least 4 small drawings based on facts of their speech)
R - Union square (Raleigh) overview notes glued in and read
L - (see Monument/Statue research project - done with partner)
R- The three Presidents Monument
L - picture of the Three presidents Monument
(taking a break from notebook to go through packet with classmates - NCarolina General Assembly book - the Legislative process)
